About Us
Thank you for visiting the Philomath Fire & Rescue website. We have been serving the citizens of Philomath since the 1930's. The mission of the organization continues to revolve around the principle of service to our community. A glance at the emergency response and fire loss statistics of the department (2008, 2009) provides strong support for the high level of confidence that local residents place in their fire department.
The City of Philomath and surrounding areas receive prompt and efficient emergency fire and medical services from three fire stations strategically located within the service area of Philomath Fire and Rescue. Our fire district is comprised of approximately 68 square miles and serves a population of over 9,000 residents.
Services
Philomath Fire and Rescue provides fire suppression, fire prevention, fire safety education, search and rescue, vehicle rescue (extrication), hazardous material response and emergency medical services. We work in concert with the City of Philomath as well as other regional public service agencies to provide Philomath and our mutual and automatic aid areas with a high level of service.
In 2009, we responded to 566 emergency calls. We rely on our cadre of 36 volunteer fire and EMS responders, 3 Career Line Personnel, Training Officer, Fire Marshal, EMS Officer, and the Fire Chief to provide the manpower to cover the needs of the community. In addition to emergency response, our volunteers provide medical and fire standby at events, help with fire and life safety education around the community and attend regular training to keep their skills and knowledge current.
